The upper end part can be retracted or extracted to perform various functions (as a thread holder and for broc twine). The terminal supporting structure contains two wires to avoid parallax errors. In addition to the standing vertical examination, the plumb line can also be used to check the alignment of the patient's posture on Pancafit®.
By partially modifying the use of the support it is possible to perform visual re-education exercises with Broc's string.
